Oh Fairy God Agent, Where ARE You?

"The Perfect Agent"Sung to ‘the Perfect Nanny’ from Marry Poppins

Creepy Query Girl
[Spoken]
Wanted: an agent for one adorable writer

[Sung]
If you want this choice position
Have a cheesy disposition (it’ll help you enjoy this song…)
Rosy cheeks, no warts. (or as few as possible)
Read blogs, all sorts

You must be smart and somewhat gritty,
fairly sweet and very witty
Send my ms on outings, give it 'tweets',
sing songs, eat sweets

Never be cross or cruel
Never give my ms castor oil or gruel (who does that?)
Love it as son and daughter
And never stink of barley water (what the hell is barley water?)

If you won't scold and dominate us,
we will never give you cause to hate us.
We won't copy plots from best selling blue rays
write clichés, or explicit sex in YA,

Oh- Hurry, Agent!
This means the world,

Sincerely,

Creepy. Query. Girl.

Oh yes. She totally did sing it too...

  20. Good timing. Last week when I subbed, the class watched "Mary Poppins", so I can hear the tune.

No cliches - gotta watch out for those. Like a hawk.

  21. That was great! I'm going to be singing that all day now.lol.
Barley water (since you asked) is a soft drink made from, well, I think it's mainly barley and water. It's a bit lemony in the versions i've had that you dilute.
A lelderly people drink it, although I am going on my grandparents here:)

  22. Hahaha! That's hilarious - I love it! LOL!

  23. To reinforce the comments above on barley water (or as I almost typed it, barely water), it is non-alchoholic, not particularly tasty, and generaly indicative of the 1950s in Britain. Should you feel an overwhelming urge to try some, I believe Robinsons make a version.

  24. Too funny!
Don't forget to look for Fairy God Publisher, either.

  25. That's awesome! And, hey, a second career in music can't be far behind.
