Unplugging

Those of you who’ve been following for awhile know that I don’t ‘officially’ do this very often but, alas, it must be done.  After today’s Writeoncon, I will be unplugging for the next couple weeks, from now until the kids go back to school September 4th.

Having the kids and hubs around full time has made maintaining an online presence damn near impossible, but the worst is that I haven’t written more than a few lines in the three weeks since I’ve been back:(  So I’m hoping to use my hiatus to spend more time in my writing cave, working on the neglected wip that’s been haunting my waking hours.

When I get back in September, I’ll be participating in GUTGAA, a month-long uber fun (and helpful) blogfest for authors ‘Gearing Up to Get an Agent’ which helps participants polish their pitches for pitch contests, presenting them to a mass of agents and small publishing houses who judge the results. Since I am in a constant state of GUTGAA, I knew this blogfest was for me! If you're interested, you can join here.

I hope you guys have a fantastic few weeks! I’ll be back debut September (hopefully with another 30k under my belt and more time to contribute to this awesome community!).

Enjoy the next few weeks being unplugged. We all need to do that from time to time.

I think unplugging is a good idea. And I hope you get a ton of writing done. Center. Breathe. Come back stronger than ever.

Enjoy your time with the hubby and the kids. It's always nice to get back to your first love, writing. Sometimes, blogging does take away from that. Everyone needs a break now and then.

Glad your current wip is haunting you; that will make it easier to get lots done while you're away :)

We'll miss you, but the writing must always come first.

I hope you have a very productive break, full of many new words!

Have you thought about loading up what you have so far on your Kindle and reading it through? Sometimes that helps me see where I've snagged or visualize where I need to go next.

Sometimes unplugging is the best thing you can do.

I can relate. My kids just went back to school this week and I can almost feel like I can breathe again. Enjoy the break.

I think it's just amazing how the school schedule seems to dictate the habits of everyone in the city and not just those with kids.

I'll catch myself doing it too. (Oh, I don't want to go to that store right now. School just got out and there will be school buses everywhere. The drive will take twice as long...)

Unplugging is definitely necessary once in a while, especially when writing is not happening. I thought I'd get so much done this summer, and, um, nope. Unplugging for the month of September is not a bad idea at all. Erica and I are both teachers, with a WIP that needs to be whipped into shape, so...maybe we'll follow your lead! 30k huh? I might give it a try.... Christy
