Guess That Freaky-French Commercial CONTEST!

I’m bored.  So I decided to hold a flash contest today on whim.  For those of you who keep up with my Friday ‘living in France’ posts, you might remember me talking about how sex sells just about everything in Europe.  Even random items like milk and coffee.

Well, they’ve gone and done it again.   The commercial below aired a few days ago and I thought it might be fun to use it in a contest.  Basically:

Try and guess what the hell they’re selling in this commercial, post it in the comments below and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a free book!

Version "soirée" de la pub Krys, avec un baiser lesbien
envoyé par TETUMAG. - Regardez les dernières vidéos d'actu.

If you have no idea-  you’ve joined about 90% of the French population who watched the commercial and scratched their heads until the well known label popped up at the very end.  My husband and I even looked at each other like ‘what the hell?’  the first time we saw it and we’re used to this sort of thing…

For those that can't view it because they're at work, basically the commercial features an entire city making out.  Yup.  That just about sums it up.  Good luck!

I invite everyone to give it their best shot!  I might even post up the most hilarious guesses with the winners so give it your all peeps!

The book that’s up for grabs:  Personal Demons by Lisa Desrochers

back cover blurb:  Frannie Cavanaugh has always been a bit of a loner.  She's spent years keeping everyone at a distance, even her closest friends.  That is, until Luc Cain enrolls in her school.  He's hot, sarcastic, and dangerous- and Frannie can't seem to stay away.
What she doesn't know is that Luc is on a mission.  Because Frannie isn't exactly ordinary.  She possesses a skil so unique that the King of Hell himself has taken notice, and he's sent Luc to claim Frannie's soul.  It should be easy:  All he has to do is get her to sin, and Luc is as tempting as they come.
Unfortunately for Luc, Heaven has other plans, and he's started making progress when the angel Gabriel shows up.  Gabe with do anything to keep Luc from getting what he came for, and his angelic charm might just be enough to keep Frannie on the right path.
It isn't long before Luc and Gabe find themselves fighting for more than just Frannie's soul.  But if Luc fails to win her over, there will be Hell to pay...for all of them.

I guess McDonalds. I'm LOVIN' it!

The logo at the end reminded me of some sort of medicine. Viagra?

But they probably wouldn't have used the two girls to sell that.

At first I thought glasses because so many people were wearing them, but then there seemed to be disclaimers at the end of the commercial and I don't think glasses need disclaimers.

Soooo...

Allergy medicine! :)

When you don't have allergies, you have a lot more time for kissing. :)

I love the multi-generational, same-sex, and heterosexual couples!

I'm going with some kind of fragrance or deodorant. The label does look like medication though.

No idea, but I like the McDonald's reference. I turned it on and the hubs came in and asked if I was watching porn? Yeah, at 8 in the morning.. Er, wait. No we don't watch that stuff.

Life Insurance?

Loved the book. Can't wait for the sequel. :D

I've read the book too, but I'll join. Can't watch the commercial right now b/c the kiddos are around, but I'd say it's for frozen dinners. Hard one.

I'm gonna go with Viagra!

Summer Frey said...

Yeah, it really did look like some sort of Viagra commercial. Or maybe heartburn...

There seems to be a lot of people wearing glasses and there's a book falling through space... so it's either the book or the glasses making people super amorous. I'll go with the glasses since it's the more ridiculous of the two!

I know, so I'll stay out of it. And people, it's France! We don't need no stinkin' viagra! (Like folic acid, they put it in the water!)

My first thought was life insurance too! But it's something with a trial period, so it's a product. And...like Emily and Gina said, there are plenty of people with glasses in it. Is this Pearl Vision for France?

Pepe Le Pew said...

Toothpaste? Breath mint? Nosehair trimmers?
Just kidding, I'm guess some kind of dating site like eHarmony.

Okay, I have no idea. I can't wait to hear what it is. =)

my first thought is heart medicine. I'll be interested to know the truth about all that kissing!

Good grief, that's a tough one and my French sucks so I couldn't decipher much. I was thinking insurance, though agree with above that it does appear "medicine-y". Laughed out loud at the reference to McDonalds.

I don't need that book, but I'm guessing the commercial is about steel toed work boots for men. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it.

The commercial is for a new flavour of Denture Cream.

:-) take care

European idea of seeing the world/selling stuff seems to be sex so I'm going to go with glasses because seeing the world clearer means everyone is getting hot and heavy! (I feel like this may be cheating because I can speak French and read it and the script rolling at the end seemed to be about glasses......so if I do happen to get it right and someone else does as well, you can let them win - I already have Personal Demons. It was awesome!)

Man, I wish I could view it! But I so believe that sex sells. Just watching The Apprentice taught me that.

Melissa Gill said...

Dang, I wish I could watch it but they dragged me into work today. I'll check it out when I get home.

K M Kelly said...

There's one a bit like that here in Blighty - it's for deoderant!

Lisa Potts said...

I'm SO not sure, but this definitely makes me want to go to France even more!

What is that stuff falling through the frames to crash on the car below?
Milk? It does a body good, right?

This has made my work day more enjoyable. Thanks, Katie!

Nicole Zoltack said...

I guess some kind of drug. Or books. I have no idea.

Oh, and there's no need to enter me, I just bought the book, can't wait to read it!

Unknown said...

My guess is either some sort of heart medicine or blood pressure medicine!

Unknown said...

uhm... glasses? Coz the girl is wearing really weird ones.

Colene Murphy said...

Don't enter me, I have it, but I couldn't resist TRYING to guess!! Is it water? Window cleaner? Male stimulation medication?
Fun contest though!

Shannon O'Donnell said...

I can't watch it, so . . .

chocolate? chapstick? :-)

Unknown said...

I watched the advert and I am still in the dark - metaphorically.
Glasses and breath mints are top of my list of guesses.

I totally love the sound of the book - if there is any grabbing to be done consider me at it like the advert ;)

Angela Scott said...

Is it just me or did it look an awful like people who wear glasses get kissed ALOT! I wear glasses and France seems like a nice place:)

That's my guess: glasses

Laura Maylene said...

Shoes? I did wonder about the glasses, but that seems too obvious. Heartburn medicine? Some French form of Gas-X? Eyeglass cleaner? Jeans? Skin cream? Acne medication? Tooth whitener? Contact lenses? Velcro? That's it, I'm out.

Interesting, but alas, no idea.

Haha! Hilarious commercial. So poetically random and French! I say it's insurance you can buy in case you break your glasses.

Can't wait to show this to my husband tonight!

Kelly Polark said...

You French folk are FRISKY! :)
I was going to guess mouthwash, but that would make sense so my guess is aspirin (no one seems to be saying, "not tonight, dear, I have a headache..." .;)

India Drummond said...

I'm guessing glasses, just because I think one person in every couple was wearing specs, and that seems a little out of proportion.

Really great contest!

DL Hammons said...

I'm going with mouthwash also. :)
