The Bum Under the Bridge

I must admit, these past few weeks- Real Life Katie has been one active woman, between work, kids, and outside responsibilities.

Blogger Katie, however, feels like she’s been reduced to some poor blogging bum sitting sorrowfully underneath a dark bridge and muttering to herself.

I haven’t been able to visit and comment on your wonderful blogs as I should the last few weeks and for that, I am so sorry.  Sometimes it seems like I just swing from one extreme of the blogging pendulum- like blogging and internet hopping 24/7 (meanwhile avoiding things like making dinner) to another-  like barely getting my three posts a week up on time.

To those of you who are still coming around and throwing this mute blogging bum some breadcrumbs and kind words- I am eternally grateful.  I do read and look forward to every one of your comments.  I know I really need to step up my game.  I used to prefer to visit those who’ve commented here and return the favor asap but since this is becoming increasingly difficult with the hub’s and my new work schedules- I’m going to start replying to comments by email as often as I can until I have more time.

Do you guys ever feel like you swing from one extreme to another?  Or are you able to pretty much maintain a healthy balance?  If so, PLEASE share your secret!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and thank you for being here!

You aren't the only one not around. I've been MIA, or just very inactive. We all have those times.

Awwwww - nothing wrong with parking one's bum under the bridge every so often!

Blogging is so overwhelming at times - hence why I post only once a week now and run away from blogfests!!

As for commenting - these days I tend to lay off over the weekend. Something has to give! LOL!

Take care

I feel like I'm buried alive in a pile of laundry and dishes. And every day feels shorter. Just do whatever you can do. Taking the day one hour at a time helps. :)

You have a lot of followers and comments like I do, so I understand it's tough to keep up with everyone. I might slack a bit for a day, but I try not to do it more than one day. Of course that means some things slide - like writing.

When work has me traveling, then my blogging suffers. It takes weeks sometimes to get back into a normal rhythm. Its also one of the main reasons I thought of the Deja Vu Blogfest...how many awesome posts did I miss being gone?

I actually prefer email responses to my comments. It saves me the trouble of having to stop back by and check for it. :)

Have a great weekend!!

LOL, I was just thinking of writing a similar post today on my own blog--but I backed out! But yes, I can't seem to find a balance either. I'm either blogging regularly or writing regularly, but never both! Halp me! :)

I hear you, Katie. Lately I feel like I can only write my novel at the expense of something else, and that something has been my blog, or my housework, or my work-work. There's always something, it never ends!

Gosh no! I blog comment only when I can spare some time. It's really damn hard. And I feel bad for not coming around here more, too. I often think about you and consider you a really good friend. I wish I had MORE TIME. So don't worry. Everyone goes through this! And yeah, I reply by email too now, and even then, not to all of them, mainly if I get asked a direct question will I reply.

I'm definitely at the bum end of the pendulum. But you know what? Neither of us should feel guilty about it. It happens!

I'm so with you under the bridge, that's why I'm going on hiatus next week for a few. Just can't keep up and things are starting to suffer.

We all go through this. Nothing to be sorry about.

Absolutely CQG. The thing with blogging is the longer you do it, the more work it becomes. I just try to pace myself with it--knowing that I'll never be able to make everyone happy.

I think everyone's a little bit frazzled and busy this month--I know I am! Don't feel bad at all. :)

Balance? What's this balance thing you speak of? Occasionally life evens out, but for the most part it's swinging from one thing to the next, hoping you don't fall.

I'm always thrilled when someone I follow comments on my blog, but if they don't, I don't stop following them. Everybody's got their own stuff clogging up their lives. Don't sweat it - at least not with me.

I went for so long without ever taking a day off, but with everything else going on in life - my writing suffered. I can't let the be.

i 100% know what you're talking about, real life gets in the way of blogging all the time. We'll still come back!

Creepy Query Girl, I'm having the same issues. I just don't have the time to keep up with my regular blogs these days. I try to post less and comment more, but I still don't visit as often as I'd like.

You have a fantastic weekend too!

Of course I've felt like that! I think it was just this past Tuesday or Wednesday that I was feeling so overwhelmed with life. The things I've committed myself to, both in the "real" world, work, and my writing life. Hang in there, sweetie! We're all still here loving and supporting you!

I have been cutting back on blogging also because I am getting involved in other things. Balance is necessary to keep from being overwhelmed. However, balance is a lifelong project.

Got any room under that bridge?

We have so many demands on our time that we can't manage them all at once. It's a juggling act; sometimes blogging is on top, and sometimes you drop the ball. We all do it.

sometimes you just burned out by life. It's understandable. I think time off is a good thing.

I think it is mainly the holidays. I start to feel rushed right after Halloween and it continues past New Years. Hopefully we will all find balance.

I can blog only a couple times a week, tops, and even that's a challenge. Everyone I know is pressed for time and often feels overwhelmed, but other times it's relaxing to stop by a blog and say hi. So whatever works for all of us.

Sure. Take what comes along and just swing with it.

I finally think I have found something of a balance. I'm working my tail off and am tired, but happy with what is happening in my life.

Priorities and sticking to them.

Welcome to my world, Katie! It's so hard to keep up with everything! I honestly don't know how you do it, but your comments ALWAYS make our day. XOXO

Girl, you're not alone, not at all! Just do the best you can. We're into the holiday season and something's got to give. I think a comment is just that and don't understand why each comment has to have an e-mail reply. I was a bit uncomfortable with this in the beginning because I thought the e-mail implied a dialogue.

I'm behind in everything, all the time. It's life. People understand.

Absolutely, especially with blogging. When life, like The Stuff, starts to eat you back, the first things that go are the thing that you either do for fun, or that require a certain amount of creativity.

Don't sweat it. I'm sure everyone has freaky busy times and also those lulls. We'll still keep coming back.

it IS hard, and lately I've been feeling like my balance is off, too. :p But hang in there. I think admitting we're conflicted is the first step~ :o) <3
