Nothing’s better than classic lit references making their way back into our vocabulary as random life occurrences.
Like break-ups.
Scene from 'The New Girl' Finale:
Schmidt: We need to talk.
Cece: Alright. This isn’t another one of those ‘merlot is the whore of the vinyard’ talks, is it?—
Schmidt: This isn’t working out.
Cece: Are you kidding right now? *stands* Are you trying to end this with me?
Schmidt: *steps forward and kisses her forehead. Then backs away slowly*
Now, go on! *motions abruptly toward the forest*
You heard me!
Go on!
Go on!
Scram! *pretends to throw rocks*
Go!
I hate you!
Go!
Aaaaaahhhh *flails arms in the air like he’s scaring off a wild animal*
Aaaaaaah *flails a little more*
Go back to your kind!
Go back to your kind!
Cece: *stares at him blankly a moment* Are you… ‘White Fanging’ me?
Schmidt: *stands up straight, looking guilty* Sorry, What?
Cece: White. Fang, Schmidt. – the only book on your kindle. The one that you wouldn’t stop talking about? Remember I said ‘Please stop talking about White Fang’ and you said ‘Someday I’m going to do this to somebody’....
Schmidt: Oh. That White Fang. *clears throat and nods* Uh huh.
Cece: *sighs* Why are you trying to push me away?
Here’s Schmidt explaining to Jess the reasoning behind ‘White Fanging’ his girlfriend.
Have you ever had to ‘White Fang’ someone or something?:)
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Actually, sort of. In one of the conversations in Remembering You (my book) Genna says to Angie -- "You married Michael because he "completed" you."
Not really White Fang, but kind of.
I've got to watch that show! Obviously, I've been missing out. Loved this!
Loved that scene, haha. Up until this point I wasn't sure how I felt about Schmidt and CeeCee, but seeing him 'White Fang' her pushed me over to their side.
Truly one of the funnier shows on tv right now...if you take it for what it is. :) I absolutely LOVE Schmidt! (Read somewhere EW? that most of his lines are off the cuff). Anyway...
I've made references to Pride and Prejudice...but I don't think it's TO anyone specific, Like "I have to break up with you because Austen says blahdeblah". I just love her books.
I had to White Fang someone but not in the loving way, more in the you are a creeper and I don't want to see you ever again way. Just takes all the romance out of the situation.
I have meant to check out this show but haven't yet...now I'm curious.
My family uses "if I had ever learned, I should have been a great success ... and so should Anne!" all the time. Sometimes we just shorten it to "and so should Anne!"
Jane Austen is GREAT for bringing classical references into everyday conversation.
Loved that episode. So funny.
<3 I've never White Fanged anyone, but since watching that episode, it's officially my favorite break up style :D
LOVED this scene! I knew what you were talking about as soon as I saw the post title. I also thought it was hilarious that it was the only thing on his Kindle. Thank goodness I've never had to White Fang anyone, I don't think that would make me feel very good about myself...
never did this to anyone, but sounds like fun. They filmed that movie near my husband's hometown in Alaska.
No, but that account of White Fanging was hilarious!
That scene was so funny. I love that show.
Bahaha, that's hilarious. I don't watch that show but everyone seems to love it.
My first thought when seeing the subject header was actually some notorious creep in the Who fan community who goes by White Fang. This dude is legendary in what a horrible person he is, and for what an obsessive audiomaniac he is.
I've used references to The Decameron a number of times, since I love that book so much and I'm such a classic world literature snob. I particularly like making references to my favoritest story, the 10th story of the third day.
I have absolutely no idea what just went on here but I like the term "White Fanging"! LOL! take care
x
I had to White Fang a big wolf-dog once. Funnily enough his name was White Fang. Or did I read this somewhere?
You are too funny.
I was excited about this scene, too! :D
Ha, I adored that episode! I've never White Fanged anybody. At least not in such an awesome manner. :)
never done it but it certainly sounds fun! Great post!
I've neer done it, but I love the show and it was a great scene. It almost makes me want to White Fang someone,
