Do You, Do You, Do You Saint-Tropez?

It’s that time of year again! When Creepy flakes out on her blog in preparation for summer vacation. Today is the girls’ last day of school and tonight we are heading down to the south of France for some R&R.  Eh, who am I kidding? My time at the beach goes more or less like the following:

And this will be the first year we go hard-core camping, tent and all. Needless to say, I’m sure I’ll be returning home with plenty of new material for my ‘living in France’ series.

I'm in serious need of some book recommendations for this trip. My kindle is all charged up and ready to go but I'm pretty sure I'm about to blow through the last of my new material in there. What are you guys reading?

And for those of you who go camping regularly, any tips for me?

In any case, wish me luck! I'll be back to irregular postings in a couple weeks!:)

Sounds like fun! We camped a couple weekends ago and it rained one day. So I say bring some fun games to pass the time!

Have fun!

It's nice to be reminded that mothering is the same everywhere, even on glamorous beaches along the south of France.

I haven't been camping since I was a kid. I remember it being fun...but I was also a kid. As for reading material I'm currently reading Nobody But Us and it's very good.

And people wonder why we don't have kids.
Last time I went camping was thirty years ago. Unless you count the three star hotel we stayed in last year. The continental breakfast was rough.
Hope you have fun!

Have fun! I just read The 5th Wave and Abandon by Elana Johnson. Both were really good. I believe Siege and Storm is out and can't wait to read it. My daughter just read The Elite and said it was really good. Hope this helps and happy reading!

I agree with Natalie above...The 5th Wave was a good read!

Tent camping and the beach? You're a lot braver than I am!! :)

I am going to ditto DL. I think you're incredibly brave to go tent camping at the beach with 4 kids -- and one an infant!!

And I recommend The 5th Wave.

Watching the kid-lings and trying not to show aggravation in public - that's the beach with kids. But you're getting south of France sun and you're getting blog material. So perhaps it's a balance.

Have fun,and don't forget sunscreen, hats and glasses for the little ones! PS - did camping BK (before kids); decided I'm not a camper so much.

LOL Katie!! Been there, done that, with my girls. I have finally gotten to the point where we can go to the beach and I don't have a nervous tick. But that's only because I made sure The Husband taught my kids infinite lessons about the ocean and they spent so much time in the water that if anything were to ever happen now, they would be the ones to rescue me!

I have zero advice on the camping front, I am not a camper. At all.
Hope you are able to enjoy yourselves and not stress too much.

I'm not super adventurous, more into pampering than roughing it. You have fun with kids/beach/sand/public facilities. I'm not jealous at all. Well, maybe about the France thing.

For light beach reading I recommend Huntley Fitzpatrick's MY LIFE NEXT DOOR. It has a Sarah Dessen book feel to it and a great romance. I also just finished THE PROGRAM which is a similar book to DELIRIUM by Lauren Oliver- I reviewed it on my blog today. Have a great time camping!!!!

Tips for a camping trip? Don't go! Run the other way! I've been camping 3-4 times (without kids), and I hated it. Nature is lovely on TV or from the window of a comfortable hotel.

I hope you're more outdoorsy than I am! Good luck! :-)

Hard core tenting was fun when the kids were younger. Now we go glamping with the trailer. Still fun!

Just finished reading "Under Heaven" by Guy Gavriel Kay. Enthralling read, if you like ancient China and Machiavellian politics.

My family wants to go camping. Maybe I'll send them to join you. Then I won't have to go. :D
