The First Day of the Last Year of My Twenties...

Today I turn 29.   And to be truthful, I’ve been kinda freaking out about it for the last couple of weeks.  After this year, my twenties will be over (technically).  And even though I hear thirty is the new twenty,  I can’t help feeling like it’s time to start playing offense with mother nature.  My biological clock is pointing me towards the anti-wrinkle creams and SPF50 products.  It’s also telling me I should start doing things like drinking green tea.
Eating organic.
Joining gymnastics for adults.
And drinking that glass of wine every night to ward off heart disease and other such rot.  I’ve never felt a bigger anxiety about getting a year older.

What age in particular had you sitting up and paying more attention to the passing of time?

N'aww. You look too young to be nearing your thirties (and if you don't look it then you can always make up your age ;)).

Happy birthday!

Still as fabulous as ever darling!

As for ages and making you realize the time is passing you... I still think I have a few years to go before that happens. That being said I do wish I'd done things when I was younger so I could just be reaping the benefits now. Ahh... live and learn.

Age is just a number - really. Live life to the fullest each day and you'll be forever 29. Happy Birthday!!

Wait, you mean you age after 21? I thought I was still 21. HeHe. In my mind I am.
I'm freaking out about getting closer to 40. Yeah, no judging please.
Have a wonderful birthday!!! PArty it up!!!

Yeah, I turned thirty this year and I've notice HUGE changes in my body. And metabolism. I love where I am in my life, but I can see the physical side-effects! LOL

Happy birthday! As someone who is turning 29 in a few months, I completely sympathize with you. I can logically believe that 29 isn't old, but that little illogical part of my brain keeps telling me I'm getting ancient. :)

Happy Birthday! I had trouble with 29, too. When you get older, every age is the new 20. Lol

30. 30 was bad. I was depressed for quite awhile, realizing I was forever out of my 20's.

That morning, I stumbled downstairs where my husband was making coffee and stuck out my bottom lip.

"I'm not in my twenties anymore."

"Awwww...come here. You're every bit as hot as you were a day ago at 29."

LOL

I'm beating you by a good few years and still haven't woken up and smelt the coffee!! My Nan always told me that age was just a number - she made it to 101!!! - and I think she was right.
Happy Birthday!! Have a great day!

Thirty was a hard birthday for me. I think it was the age when that little part of me that still thought I was a kid expired. Now I know I'm not a kid, which - now that I think about it - gives me the freedom to act like one and the wisdom to not get hurt doing something stupid.

Have a great birthday and an awesome year! 30 really wasn't as bad as I made it out to be all those years ago.

Happy Birthday!

As for growing older, I think turning 20 was my hardest birthday. Looming adulthood and all that. I felt like I was already past my prime. *laughs* I know, it sounds silly, but I did.

Now I'm 29, too, and am actually looking forward to 30. Weird, I know.

I do hope you have a great birthday!

Turning thirty was really big for me, but most of the changes were good ones. The only thing that sucked was how much bigger my clothes had to get.

Okay, youngsters! I was really depressed the year I turned 26, because my age *rounded* to thirty! I gotta laugh at that now.

When I turned 36, I did not have the same problem, because I was too busy raising my toddler children to have time to worry about my age.

I turned 46 this year. Yes, it stings a little, but I don't think I would want to go back to 26 (single and lonely) or 36 (diapers and bottles), so I am content where I am.

I'm 41, but the only birthday I ever had a real problem with was 25. Before that, I was in my early 20's. After that I was 'nearly 30'. Of course, looking back, it was probably more to do with the fact that I was planning a wedding and trying to get pregnant!

Almost forgot! Happy Birthday!

I flipped out over 30. I hate not being in my twenties anymore, especially since I still think like a teenager. 31 sucked even harder. But on that note- happy birthday!

I turned 30 just a few months ago... oh man. That was scary - I was not happy about that. But once I hit that hurdle, it was over and done and now I'm 30. C'est la vie.

Happy birthday to you!

happy birthday!

i had a little struggle at 28 for some reason. strangely enough i don't really think of myself as older than 28 even though i am...by a long shot. i really had difficult time three years ago, when i turned 40. i just ignored the day, basically. it wasn't so much age that got me down but it was that i wasn't any closer at 40 to my writing goals than i had been at 35. i'd sort of stagnated for a few years and felt as if i'd wasted precious time.

i realized at some point that freaking out about wasted time was even less productive than simply goofing off...so i'm back to goofing off.

have a great birthday and don't sweat the 20's thing! =)

I don't worry about getting older. Remember this quote: "Do not regret growing older. It is a privilege denied to many." Puts it into perspective, doesn't it?

So when I think about that, I realize how lucky I am to reach any age! Too many people have never or will never see age 30 or 45 or 60. Now THAT'S scary!

So enjoy and love it being 29! Happy Birthday, Katie!!!

Happy B-day!

No, it wasn't any specific age that had me sit up and take notice of time. It was a set of events, a series of passings. Our time here is short. We might as well enjoy it.

Oh, Lord, let's move out of the macabre...apologies for bringing up passings, on this, a celebratory occasion...HAPPY B-DAY!

Happy birthday! I stopped counting, seriously. Like super early. If you ask me I have to stop and think about it. Just think of it this way, there will always be someone older out there who thinks you're young.

Heather's right. And to prove it, I'll admit that I turned 36 last weekend and I don't feel any worse than I did at 30. (although I was pregnant the majoritey of that year...)

the day i turned forty i sat at our dining room table and wondered what the h3ll had happened to my thirties.

in my head, i still see myself as about twenty-one. i knew i was really older than that but, seriously, an entire decade lost? i had a brief flash of watching an episode of Thirtysomething once during the past many years and finally saying, "Oh, I get it now." other than that, moving to NC, trying to get a new life established and becoming an instant father to my wife's then five year old son consumed ten entire years in a flash.

in other words, don't sweat leaving your twenties. (besides, biological middle age starts at twenty-five, so you've been on the downhill slope on that one for years now!)

My 30s were the best years of my life, infinitely better than my 20s. You probably have nothing to worry about.

Happy Birthday!

Age is just a number, all that matters is what's in the inside. :)

I felt the same way when I turned 29 this year and found myself ogling "lady" clothes. Then I quickly came to my senses and went back to the junior section.

I know exactly how you feel. It's less than 5 months till I'm 30 and there's so much I want to do. I'm sure 30s will be just as good as your 20s.

Happy Birthday! Thirty-five had me depressed and frustrated. I made it the forty-five with no problem though.

First off, Happy Birthday! Hope you had an awesome day sans the gymnastic for adults. Especially if it was induced by the glass of wine.

I think turning 21 was what did it for me. I very unexpectedly found out that I was pregnant a week before I turned 21.

Happy (belated) birthday!! I turned 25 last week and truly started to feel old... but hey, as long as we keep living and enjoying life, we're fine! Hope you had a wonderful one!

Hope you had a blessed day, I remember feeling overwhelmed turning 30, excited at 40 - it seemed that I had all these opinions and knowledge that came out of no where but was usually right, only turning to the anti ageing cream now I realise there are no refunds or dress rehearsals, need to look after me now, today, and tomorrow will look after itself! Happy B day, fellow Cancer! I turn 30 on the 12th... I went to Vegas for the 1st time for my 29th, and it was fun, but I wish I would have gone when I was younger. In some ways I am still a teenager (video games, stupid humor, etc..) But I definitely party less than I used to. I kinda love being this age, because I still have fun but have my head screwed on right. It's easier to be happy once you've grown up a bit...
