Tied to the Roof

Not much to report today. The hubs and kids are home (no school on Wednesdays in France. -Which is both a blessing and a curse). And running the kids to judo and CCD classes takes up most of the day.

Therefore, my online-self is basically gagged and tied to the roof of our car as we accomplish most of the day’s errands.  (see above)

BUT, I will make it up to you on Friday, when I participate in the Oh, How I Miss You Blogfest, hosted by Andrew, Alex, and Matt

There’s still time to sign up so take a look:

The bloggers we really miss…
and the ones we would really miss!

Do you have a couple blogger buddies who aren’t posting as often? Those who’ve pulled back and seem absent from the blogging world? Do you have blogger buddies you are grateful they are still around and would miss if they vanished? Now is your chance to show your appreciation and spotlight them!

On November 16, list one to three bloggers you really miss and one to three bloggers you would miss if they stopped blogging. Then go leave a comment on those blogs.

Our blogger friends are special – time to let them know!

Hope you guys have a great rest of the week! I’ll see you on Friday!

I am still trying to wrap my mind around how you can have school only 4 days a week -- and 2 weeks off every 6 weeks or so.

Do they go 12 hours on the days that school is in session? Work through the summer?

Or are French children just not that educated??? (That doesn't seem to be so.)

Wow, off on Wednesdays? I bet doctor's and dentist's offices are jammed on those days.

Honestly, Dianne- I have no idea. They've been talking about reinstating school on Wednesdays because French teacher have had it. Their school day is a little longer than ours. From 8:30am-4:30pm BUT they are out on lunch break from 11:30-1:30 every day.

I guess they basically focus on academics exclusively. No art, theater or music above what the teacher wants to do with them on her own in their spare time. They do have gym with their teacher once a week. And go to the library once a month. (no inhouse library. They walk the two miles as a class to the closest one). And they have a 9 week session every year where they take a bus to the town hall pool and have a swimming lesson once a week. French teachers are constantly chasing after time and trying to fulfill the progression requirements, though. It's just crazy.

Awesome idea to be off on Wednesday. My daughter and I could use it this week.

Oops! I forgot I signed up for that, and now I'm not sure I'm going to do it. I can't remember who I'm missing (how sad is that), and the list of blogs I can't live without is too long.

Your kids don't have school on Wednesday??? I'd go nuts. Though as it it, mine already get tons of days off each month. They don't have school this Friday.

Oh, I know that "gagged and tied to the roof" feeling. Always on errand running day!

I'd really like to do that blog hop, but with relatives coming for the holidays and an office that's not quite done being painted...I don't think I can get everything done. :(

Thanks so much for plugging our blogfest!
Be sure someone lets you out of that at the end of the day.

Hope the blogfest is a success. Sorry, I can't do this one.

If the French pattern of long lunches is ever to change, it will have to start at the bottom, in the elementary and secondary schools. But, would these changes make it better for the student or better for the teacher?

I sure could use a day off midweek!
In response, I have been kind of absent from blogger, and I notice that a few of my faves are posting a little less. Good to see that lots of the people I follow and love to read/look are still at it though!
