P- Psychic Story Network

Do you want to raise the tension?  Create fear and eeriness?  Give your reader a glimpse into the future?

Easy!

All you need is a quick séance with a psychic!

Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling) : 'The Grim, my dear, the Grim!' cried Professor Trelawney, who looked shocked that Harry hadn't understood. 'The giant, spectral dog that haunts churchyards! My dear boy, it is an omen – the worst omen – of death!

The Vampire Academy (Richelle Mead):  Rhonda the psychic tells Rose only one thing; You will destroy that which is undead. She also gives Dimitri a reading; You will loose what you value the most.

The Vampire Diaries  (L.J. Smith):  "Elena, don't go to that bridge!  It's death Elena.  Death is waiting there."  Bonnie - The Struggle

Sepulchre (Katie Mosse)
“Also, the Devil is raising his arm in a gesture reminiscent of the Magician.”
“Like two sides of the same person.”
“Could be,” Laura nodded.  “Tarot is all about the patterns, about the relationships between one card and another.”

If you want to spookify your scene with a ghostly revelation, try the psychicstorynetwork.com where you can get your very own psychic character for a flat rate of $39.99!

Have you ever had a real psychic reading?  I had a couple tarot readings in my younger years and the lady made a believer outta me!  And yes, I DO have my very own personal story psychic in one of my books.  They come in handy, after all!

In stories, many times psychics play the role of foreshadower, even if they are kind of a quack. I love the first picture! Hilarious.

I have - to quite a few!! And much as I'd like to be a sceptic - I must admit they've hit on stuff that's now coming true. Seriously. The best psychics were ones I stumbled across without meaning to (like the one in Howarth - Bronte country!).

I like the idea of a character with psychic abilities to raise spooky tension!! Take care

Actually I do birth charts and read Tarot cards but it is more for fun than money.

I've done Tarot in the past and you know what, you've just given me a fantastic idea for a new storyline. Thanks Katie.

I've never done anything like this myself, but a friend of my mums went to a reading once and said it was accurate. But it'd make a great thing to add into a story :)

I met a woman who talked to the dead. She also claimed to be psychic. I felt sorry for her, if she was picking up any of the nonsense in my brain. But it was because of meeting her that I added a prophetess to my story.

I have been trying to figure out how to approach it, for my next project. I need a mix of psychic and a mix of a little insane, at least in appearance.

Thanks.

My mom goes to Angel readings. She's good friends with the woman who gets the Angel messages. I haven't done it yet though. Maybe this year I'll gather my courage and just do it! I know lots of people who have, and it's uncanny how right everything is. I wish I had that gift!

I have, yes, but none of them have ever hit of anything accurate. Great P word!

Nothing like a vague prophecy to add some tension!

very Funny! How many people do you think tried to go to psychicstorynetwork.com hahaha
Anyway I went once and she told me I would have trouble conceiving children I laughed it off because I had already had my daughter but low and behold it took me ten years to get pregnant with my son and he is nine now and no luck since having him....so I am a believer!

Yep, my friends and I once went to a very shady psychic. It was fun, and scarily kind of accurate. Next I'm planning on having a tarot card reading.

BTW, totally got me with that website...haha

I've always wanted a psychic reading. Perhaps if I didn't have to risk my life by venturing into the ghetto to have it done...

I have a psychic in my WIP! I'm finding it quite a difficult character type to handle as though it's not just a cameo role.

Ah, the old "psychic as foreshadower" technique of storytelling. Can be quite fun to pull off in an original way, but I'm not sure if agents/publishers just groan at the idea, if it's just a case of using the character as a blatant indicator that something bad is going to happen, to excite the reader and get them turning the pages to reach that predicted point.

I've had various readings from spirit mediums/psychics myself over the years. I'm skeptical of most of them, but sometimes there seems to be something in it, even though I try to think of every logical explanation.

Very interesting, Katie. I wonder if someone could have 'Predicted' that I would leave yet another comment :)
And now, right on 'Q', the next letter in this fascinating challenge awaits thee.
Take care, Katie.
In kindness and fun, your way, Gary :)

I find it interesting in fiction where characters are led into something because of a psychic reading/fortune telling whatever, but I have never played around with it in reality.

I've had tarot readings before and sometimes it is uncanny the things that come up. Things there is no possible way for them to know. I have a deck, but I only read the meanings out of a book. ho hum.

I've never dabbled in the psychic realm, but your point is well-taken.

And great blog! I'm following!

I had a short tarot reading at a renaissance faire a few years ago, but nothing extensive. Although, I think it would be fascinating!

I also have two decks of tarot cards (long story...)

And my friends and I did a seance or two in high school (LONGER story...)

The idea is definitely intriguing! :)

I was a professional tarot reader for a year or so.

Most of the readings were boring, same old same old stuff. I used to wonder why they came to me, when they already knew the answer. I guess they just needed to hear it from someone else.

Some were suprising (even for me) and reminded me (again) that magic is every where :)
