E- End of an Era

Most of you know about my addiction to teen shows.  Something about angst, love triangles, immaturity, and indecision makes my inner teenager sit up and beg with perked ears and tongue wagging. (sorry about the analogy - must still have my mind on dogs from yesterday's post

Sadly, one of my favorite guilty pleasure series- ABC family’s ‘Greek’ came to an end a couple weeks ago and I’ve been re-watching the first seasons ever since.  It’s amazing how a television show can take you back.  Like how Roseanne drops me right smack into my parent’s late 1980’s kitchen.

But one show that really makes me feel like I’m watching the beginning and ending of an era is ‘Friends’.  The show debuted in 1994 and ran ten seasons until the finale in 2004.   I’m pretty sure re-runs are still on television, no matter where you are.  I’m living in France and I get to watch it on a daily basis, dubbed over in French (which, for some reason, isn’t nearly as funny)

The thing about ‘Friends’ is that so much changed in technology and culture in just those ten years and we get glimpses of it all throughout the series.  Where the first season featured pagers, bowl haircuts and dial-up internet, the last episode had Rachel calling Ross from an airplane on her tiny cell phone.  Even the way the series was filmed changed- clearer, brighter images when the first season had that hazy ‘90’s glow’.

What shows make you feel like you’re watching another era or bring you back to an era of your own life?
