It’s hard to believe that one year ago today (actually it’ll be a year tomorrow but since today’s a ‘C’ day - let’s just go with it, shall we?)
Creepy Query Girl was born.
For my one year blogoversary I’m flashing back to my First. Ever. Blogpost. I think it got a total of six comments (ok-three of which were mine). But every single one of those comments, and every single comment since has meant so much to me. Even if I don’t have an agent (yet) everyone I’ve met through the blogosphere has been so supportive. You guys have motivated me and you’ve taught me so much more than I could have ever learned if I were doing this on my own. So…thank you.
Without further ado, the one that started it all:
So- This is what querying agents has brought me to. I used to be a normal twenty seven year old married mother of three. But then I finished my first manuscript in January 2009 and it began. First drafts, second drafts, edits, writers' forums, critics groups, research, tips on querying, frequenting agent blogs like it's going out of style (which it isn't by the way). And now here I am. Blogging.
God help us all.
When did I first realise I had become a creepy query girl? When I started dreaming about me and my first choice agents running happily hand and hand through a field of literary dreams come true. You other queriers out there- Don't deny it. You've all had the same dream.
The problem is querying agents is like being one of those little yappy circus dogs that are led through hoops and fire dressed in a clown suit and strung along by a big juicy dog bone.
Don't get me wrong. I am not one of those people who hound agents for feedback, reply after a rejection or send five messages a day on their blogs. My query letter isn't filled with gimmicks or a headline that makes it look like something its not. I'm just your normal run of the mill querier (with an extraordinary book ofcourse:). But despite all of that, I FEEL like a creepy querier since I spend about forty percent of my time concentrating on writing and the querying process. So here I am. And here I shall remain. Until that fateful day when the best agent in the world picks me out of my creepy query status and upgrades me to his or her creepy client. And then maybe to creepy published writer, and creepy literary prize winner. Stranger things have happened.

**So there you have it peeps! This year has been an amazing roller coaster ride. But one thing’s for sure- I probably wouldn’t have had the strength to keep at it if it wasn’t for all of you. I love you guys!**

That's pretty cool! You should have that up on the side as an explanation of your blog title - though I think at some point we all turn into the creepy query writer!
Your blog name is what first attracted me over here. I love the story and can't wait to celebrate with you when you've finally crossed the thresh hold from Creepy Query Girl to Creepy Agented Girl....
Thanks for posting.
I now look forward to the day when I feel ready to become a Creepy Query Guy!
Love this post and love the story. The best thing about blogging is the feeling that you're not alone. Makes it less creepy ;-) But still love the tile of your blog ;-)
Happy blogiversary! When you get an agent, will you change the name of your blog to "Creepy Client Girl"? It doesn't have quite the same ring to it, I think. But it will probably feel really good! I hope that day comes soon!
Happy One Year!!! And I think we are all creepy query girls at one point or another!
Happy anniversay Ms. Creepy. BTW there is nothing wrong with being creepy!
Happy Anniversary! I have to laugh at the people who stalk agent blogs and leave comments for every little thing.
Agent: I walked my dog today
Follower: OMG, Great post! I love dogs! I walked mine too! We should walk them together some time, LOL!
So glad you're not THAT creepy! :)
Fellow A to Z Challenger stopping by. I'm so glad the Surprise Me button brought me here. I used to be a creepy query girl, so I feel for you. Stick with it and don't be discouraged. If it's meant to happen, it will!
Yah!! Congrats on your anniversary! I'm creepy editing girl right now, soon to join creepy querying ranks! ;-)
Congrats on your anniversary. Your blog name is the first thing I noticed about your blog was your name. This was a great post.
Happy Anniversary! Wow. We're pretty much the same age then. I started blogging just one month earlier than you! :o)
I am so glad you started Creepy!!! May your status to Creepy Client be here soon asap!!!! Yay!!! Take care
x
I love your blog, especially it's title! I'm rooting for you and can't wait until you're Creepy Agented Girl, just like Jen said.
Thanks for stopping by Alex! You give my comments section a nice bathroom stall feel...;)
Congrats on your blogiversary. It's fun to see what your first post was.
Happy Anniversary!
The time flies when you're having fun querying, doesn't it? Don't worry, even when you become a client, you'll still be Creepy Query Girl to the rest of us.
Ciao!
GW
C is for congratulations on your blogoversary!!
Wow, a year of blogging! Congratulations for keeping with it! And I'm very jealous of the six comments on your first post. Mine had none! Haha.
Happy Blogaversary!!
So glad you started blogging! I've learned a lot from your blog posts (I mean, who knew that Watch out for the Stairs is a game show in France??) and laughed a lot, too.
Happy Blogiversary!!! I'm glad you dived into the blogging world--your voice definitely adds to the life of the party we're having.
Congrats on the blogiversary! I'm so glad I stumbled on the Creepy Query Girl - I love your blog :)
I just might claim to be a Querulous Query Guy when it comes to 'Q'
Congrats on blog anniversary. I love your blog. Love the flashback post too =)
Happy Aniversary! What an awesome milestone.
Happy one year! I remember when I first saw your blog name - I thought it was brilliant!
HAPPY BLOGIVERSARY!!!!!
I think this is the first time I've been here, so it's like you started all over for me! Thanks! I'll be back!
I remember when I first met you, and I thought that dark haired reader was actually you.
LOL Matt- I remember at my 'coming out' everyone was so surprised I was a blonde!
Happy blogoversary!
Best of luck becoming a creepy client. ;)
Happy Blogiversary, Katie!! I'm so glad you've kept at it. We'll all trudge through the muck together. :-)
Happy Blogiversery Katie! well done. Really enjoyed this post.
Happy 'birthday'! Here's to many more!
Happy Blogoversary! Isn't it fun to see how far we've come in just a year? Just imagine what next year could be like! Keep the dream alive!
Congrats on your blogoversary!!!!!
My first blog post got a whopping zero comments. Don't feel bad about the six even if three were your own.
Happy early Blogthday (or blogiversary, whichever :P)!!! I didn't get any posts on my blog for a good few months, so I'd consider 3 on post 1 to be awesome :D
you're not so creepy. Although it would be great when you win the creepy literary prize if you accept it as CQG... :D <3
OMG, there's another me out there. How have I missed you in my stalkerish searches?
Great to follow you.
Happy Blogoversary!!

Yay. Happy blog birthday. I can't wait to see what this year brings :)
Happy Blogiversary! Can't believe it's only been a year. I thought you'd been around the blog-block a lot longer than me!
And yes, THIS year is going to be even better than the last!
Wow, that is pretty creepy. Do you still spend 40 percent of your time querying agents? I hope 2011 is your year!
Love how you decided to celebrate entering the query phase. I can't wait until I have a manuscript ready to start sending out queries for.
Happy Blogoversary!! I'm not sure when I wandered over here, but I think it might have been when you did a blogpost impersonating Candyland. Did you "Do Candyland Better than Candyland" at some point??
Anyway, I know you're not Creepy at all, but I do look forward to the day when you are a Creepy Client and then a Creepy Bestselling Author!!
Happy Blogaversary and best of luck. I'm going to begin querying in about three months. Fellow writer, A to Z'er, I am happy to follow you. I hope to see news of your success in the coming months.
I know this will be the year. I've been following your blog and I love your posts...even if they are a little creepy. (Just kidding)
Happy Blogoversary!!! (Well tomorrow anyway)

Your first blog post rocks! Really! Now what happens when you get an agent? Do you change your name to Creepy Agented Authoress?????
wow - your blog really took off. Most of my posts had no comments for at least six months.
Happy (belated) one year! You've come a long way...much longer than I have come, and my blog will have been up for a year here pretty soon too....
And yeah - your first blog is awesome! I think you're blog is much better than mine, period. LOL. I love your blog, and I'm glad I stumbled across you!
